I always love to see the amazing student art work in our hallways. Outside the library, I noticed some very striking collages. When I stopped to take a closer look, the message of the collages made the art even more interesting to me.
Here are some of the captions that the students added to their collages:
- “Today in art, we collaged a picture about sharing. Sharing is one of the most succesful skills to learn in school in order to be successful. I like to share my watch with Kenji. When I share with others, I notice that they like to share with me.” – Andrew
- “Today in art, we collaged a picture about sharing. Sharing is one of the most succesful skills to learn in school in order to be successful. I like to share my Polly Pockets with my sister. When I share with others, I notice that they like to share with me.” – Rebecca
- “Today in art, we collaged a picture about sharing. Sharing is one of the most succesful skills to learn in school in order to be successful. I like to share tires with my mom and dad. When I share with others, I notice that they like to share with me.” – Isaac

It is clear that our first graders know how important it is to share.
How about you? Can you comment and tell us about why sharing is important? Think about these questions, and choose 1 (or more!) to write about:
- Why is it so important to share in school?
- What is something that someone shared with you that made you feel good?
- Is it always easy to share? Tell us about a time that it was difficult to share and how everything turned out.
- Is there something that you like to share with others? What?
- What are some things that you cannot hold in your hand, but are still important to share with others?
- If your teacher could share something with you, what woudl you like him/her to share?
I can’t wait for YOU to share your thoughts!

I am struck by how well our students at Lutherville Lab are able to share so nicely together – not just supplies, but also their creativity and ideas. Keep up the good work! 🙂

I agree, Ms. Eisler. I see students share their supplies and their ideas with one another. It shows in their artwork that is displayed throughout the school. I also see a lot of good idea-sharing in our blogs.

As the principal of Lutherville Lab, I feel sharing is always important. Sharing shows evidence of caring for another person. I like to share I care about our students by having lunch bunches with them, by asking them about how their day is going, by talking to them about what they like or would change about our school, by having them feel special because someone is interested in knowing more about them.
Lutherville Lab is a great place because everyone shows how much they care by sharing.

I am very impressed by the artwork of each student, and I hope to keep seeing this great and delightful artwork around the halls.
